API Co-Hosts Tour with Honoured Guests

We were honoured to co-host Minister Randy Boissonault, Deputy Ministers Simon Kennedy and Catherine Blewett, and others, with our partners at the University of Alberta and the Li Ka Shing Applied Virology Institute.

We discussed the future of life sciences in Edmonton and across Canada, including the importance of the Canadian Critical Drug Initiative in addressing critical drug shortages in Canada, academia-industry partnerships and training and retaining our life science graduates.

Last month, we were very happy to participate in natHACKS, Alberta’s inaugural brain-computer interface hackathon! Hundreds of students and recent graduates participated in the event, working to refine and solve problems in neurotechnology across the domains of Rehabilitation, Recreation, and Research. natHACKS included 38 projects, and awarded seven of those as winners.

Our Director of Clinical and Data Services, Michael Guirguis, and our Director of Programs & Ecosystem Development, Paramita Chaudhuri Basu, participated in the event!

The facility in northwest Edmonton employs around 150 people full time, and serves Alberta, parts of Saskatchewan and northern British Columbia, and cities in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.
