Meet Hans Bauer – our new VP, Technical Operations
We are pleased to introduce Hans Bauer, our new VP of Technical Operations!
Hans will be joining our senior leadership team as the VP of Technical Operations, where he will play a lead role in advancing our manufacturing and technical capabilities, and ensuring operational excellence across the board.
Hans brings extensive experience leading operations in the pharmaceutical quality assurance and regulatory sector. He has a proven track record in quality management across multiple countries including the US, EU, and Switzerland.
Recognized for his expertise in GMP audits, third party management, and analytical capabilities, Hans has spearheaded numerous quality improvement projects, achieving significant advancements in both production efficiency and product quality.
We look forward to the exceptional leadership and expertise that Hans will bring to our team!

Earlier this week, we were thrilled to host an industry tour and presentation for student research interns at the University of Alberta, as part of the Scholarship, Engineering, Science, & Technology (WISEST) Summer Research Program!
Here’s a recap of the exciting activities that took place:
Industry tours
- Mohammed Ali, our Manager, Academic Engagement & Innovation, led a tour of the Health Innovation Hub at UAlberta, giving students an opportunity to observe the work of and learn from several HIH member companies.
- Our Scientists, Siddharta Biswas, Lusine Tonoyan, and Shadab Alam, led a tour of the Drug Development Innovation Centre, one of our key facilities supporting drug research and development.
Team presentations
- Fernanda Talarico, our Biostatistician, shared her inspiring academic and career journey, showcasing the dynamic opportunities available for students aiming to start a career in the life sciences.
- Paramita Chaudhuri Basu, our Director of Programs and Ecosystem Development, wrapped up the event with a presentation reflecting her experiences as a student,and as a mentor to aspiring professionals in the life sciences.

Last month, our team had the pleasure to participate at Edmonton’s most celebrated summer event – KDays!

- The Indigenous Support Hub at the University of Alberta has received $750,000 from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to support clinical care for Indigenous patients within primary healthcare settings. The hub will be “a shared resource for healthcare providers in PCNs, offering support on social, cultural, and systemic factors affecting Indigenous Peoples health.”
