PoND Research Day
Last month, we had the great joy of participating in Polymer Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery (PoND) Research Day on Saturday, Aug. 27! PoND is a program dedicated to providing Masters and PhD students with superior value-added training in nanomedicine through a combination of collaborative research, special courses, and engagement with industry through events like internships and the Research Days.
One of our talented team members went to give students and other researchers a presentation on what API does to help innovators commercialize, including our ongoing work on establishing the Canadian Critical Drug Initiative.
API at Achema 2022
We’ve been international over the last month! Our Vice President of Special Projects, Allan Aginsky, attended Achema 2022 to meet with representatives of some of the leading pharmaceutical equipment suppliers in Frankfurt, Germany. It was an absolute pleasure to attend and join other international attendees as we start planning for our growth and expansion here at home.

Startup Week is fast approaching!
This is a fantastic series of events showcasing Edmonton’s unique entrepreneurial spirit through workshops, events, and more. The Health Innovation Hub will be participating this year, and we hope you’ll join!
Startup Week runs October 17-22. Submissions are open until Oct 10 to host an event – it can be a panel, workshop, discussion, social or a podcast episode. Early bird tickets for Launch Party 13, the flagship event that showcases new and exciting startups in town, are on sale until Sept 16th.

This year’s Global BioTech Week takes place from September 26 – October 2 this year! BioTech Week raises awareness of the industry and its global potential among policymakers, policy influencers and the public. Alberta Health and Innovation Organizations Invest in Phase II of the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research
Alberta Innovates, the University Hospital Foundation, and Canadian Institutes of Health Research recently announced an investment of $21 million in the Alberta Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research SUPPORT Unit, which aims to increase Alberta’s capacity for patient-oriented research.
Funding boost helps keep Alberta at the forefront of glycomics, metabolomics
Federal funding of nearly $20m to support the Metabolomics Innovation Centre and GlycoNet Integrated Services will bolster research in two fundamental areas – glycomics and metabolomics – which “provide an avenue to address a wide variety of health needs and are leading to increased precision in terms of diagnosing, detecting and predicting many diseases and disorders.”
