The Top 20 Life Sciences Startups will pitch live on February 9 in our virtual Pitch Night. After that, our qualified angel investors will go through a full due diligence process with them, and they will be narrowed down to the Top 5 finalists.

We invite the public to join us on February 9 for Top 20 Pitch Night to see 20 companies from across the Prairies tell the world about their startups.

“There is incredible capacity in the life sciences industry in Canada, and this summit is part of how we can kick-start this potential and make great discoveries come to life,” said Andrew MacIsaac, CEO of API. “Our first summit last year was a great success, and looking at this year’s Top 20 companies we see a lot to be excited for. I can’t wait to hear each company’s pitch and learn more about them. At API our core purpose is to help people with good ideas in the life sciences industry turn them into reality, so this event is very important to our work.”

“It takes more time and more capital to bring technologies in the life sciences to market.  This investment summit is an opportunity to both showcase the entrepreneurs translating scientific discovery into commercial products and to introduce more investors into the life sciences financing ecosystem,” said Zack Storms, Co-Founder of Startup TNT.  “One of our major goals is to increase the sophistication of the Canadian investment community, and this Summit enables us to introduce many investors to the life sciences industry, which is poised to make a big impact on Canada, and the world, over the coming years.”

The Life Sciences Investment Summit powered by API  is a platform for life sciences entrepreneurs and innovators seeking seed-stage funding. This Summit will provide them with an opportunity to receive seed funding for their idea or business and to network with investors and professionals from the start-up and the Life Sciences ecosystem. The Summit also offers hands-on training for investors interested in Life Sciences through a team-based due diligence process.  At the 2022 Life Sciences Summit, 3 startups raised a total of $815,000 from the participating investors and investment groups.

Startup TNT has held 19 Investment Summits in the past three years that have raised over $9 million dollars in seed-stage capital for 65 companies across Western Canada. In 2022 Startup TNT raised capital for 33 Prairie Startups, with 32 per cent of capital going toward women-led companies.

Over the past 4 years API has grown to be one of Canada’s leading not-for-profit organizations supporting the life sciences sector by helping researchers and innovators commercialize their ideas, incubating startups and spinoffs, and training students as part of real-world industry teams. API has supported over 43 SMEs, scale-ups, and spinoffs in four years.
