Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation is coming to Calgary with its new Innovate Calgary Partnership

API is providing translational research capacity with a new lab in the Life Sciences Innovation Hub.

CALGARY, AB, February 25, 2020 – API is excited to bring expertise to the City of Calgary with a new partnership and memorandum of understanding with Innovate Calgary. API will work closely with Innovate Calgary, integrating services into their incubator and accelerator programs to help their researchers take the necessary steps towards bringing their life-saving research to market and creating start-ups that are investment-ready. API and its extensive network of translational scientists will provide scientific services in drug development, regulatory expertise, and clinical trial design.

Conveniently located in the Life Sciences Innovation Hub starting April 1st, API will be able to uptake projects quickly with their new lab space with a goal to have 20 Calgary-based project team members and collaborators by the end of 2020.

“With the combined expertise in our province we have everything we need to make Alberta a world leader and destination of choice for life sciences companies and investment.” says API CEO, Andrew MacIsaac, “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Innovate Calgary to transform the outcomes for Calgary-based life sciences companies and attract new investment, jobs, and economic diversification to the region. The vibrant energy in the city has been infectious and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”

Both partners are mandated to build capacity in regards to investable companies and job opportunities for graduates, the development of life science professionals, and the successful translation of research into life saving solutions for Canadians. Together, they will harness the knowledge of the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta and combine their extensive network of industry experts to the benefit of Alberta’s life science sector.
