Life Sciences & Innovation News

Last week, Edmonton precision health company Nanostics Inc. unveiled its new partnership with Cancer Care Alberta and Alberta Health Services to collaborate on developing new diagnostic tools for urological diseases.

The agreement will allow Nanostics Inc. to leverage advanced data analytics from Connect Care and the Cancer Care Alberta Data Environment for Cancer Inquiries and Decisions (DECIDe), and streamline access to Connect Care’s comprehensive clinical information system.

“Innovative collaborations such as this have the ability to leverage data to improve patient care and outcomes benefiting patients for years to come,” said Dr. Lorraine Shack, Director, Cancer Advanced Analytics, Cancer Care Alberta, AHS, in a press release.

The University of Hospital Foundation has recently announced its partnership with Alberta Health Services and Novartis Canada to collaborate on a pilot project that will tackle challenges and help in the prevention of heart disease.

With the joint alliance between UHF, AHS, and Novartis Canada, the HeartwayTM initiative will allow the development of strategies to prevent heart disease, focusing on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), which affects nearly 484,195 Albertans.

The initiative is currently in pilot testing at selected hospitals and pharmacies in Sherwood Park, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Grande Prairie. According to the news release, trial clinics are expected to treat approximately 2,500 patients, with plans to increase the number of patients over the next 12 months.
